Bucket

Just a man and his bucket.

Back on the ice

It has been a good week since our last skate on the ice sheet as we had a cold spell and we were at the hospital with baby Georgi. Bauer was asking me all day to hit the ice and after an amazing dinner given to us from one of our hockey sponsors (thanks Raina), we hit the ice! It was a perfect night, around 18 degrees and no wind.

First bath at home

And........Georgi did not like it at all. The picture says enough.

Fat Tuesday

Aunt Holly and Uncle Dan sent us all their treasure's from Mardi Gras. The boys kept asking me all day where the beads came from; I really didn't know what to tell them.......

It is amazing how long a box of random items can entertain two young boys, thanks Dan and Holly.

Break time

Georgi has been a quiet force in our house as of late; meaning that she lets us know when its time to feed!  We really can't complain to much and she sleeps most of the day away. Pretty easy so far.

Pink Bath

In honor of the new baby, the boys wanted to show support for the new line mate and they had a pink bath.

Showing her the ropes

Bauer and Rhett have sure taken to their new teammate. Always wanting to hold and kiss the new line mate. The boys need to work on trying to be more quiet, but I really don't see that happening, they are just loud boys and Georgi will just have to become accustomed to her brothers philosophy of "play hard, be loud".

Pink

Georgi has added a few first to the Walter house hold. First, our first baby girl; second, girl toy's and lastly....PINK! For those of you that know Jill, she rarely or never wears pink. However, I think the pink suits us great and has been fun adding a new color to our washing cycle.

Georgina Catherine Walter

We added a new addition to our hockey team on Valentine's Day at 9:10 am. Georgina will be our star right wing coming in at 21 inches and 9 lbs 15 oz. Contract negotiating started at midnight when Jill told me her water broke and then we had a record breaking sprint from Sebeka to the Flatau farm to drop off the boys and then on to Detroit Lakes for the delivery. Georgi is our biggest baby, however Jill said this was the easiest delivery. A schedule has been set up for her training and she will hit the ice next week!

Banana Cream Pie

For all those that attended the rink party, please stop reading. Jill made an amazing banana cream pie and she forgot to share it (ahhhhh shucks). Oh well, more for us here! A great way for the Walter's to end the day.

The Rink Party Continues

After the party cleared out, Bauer still didn't get enough hockey in so he went back out while Jill and I were cleaning up. Either that or he didn't want to help clean up. I can't blame him because the night was perfect and with a hint of snow

RInk Party 2013

Jill and I threw our first annual Rink Party and we all had a blast. Little did everyone know that it was an actual tryout for the Sebeka Hockey Amateur Team (SHAT). We had many good prospects come out and hit the ice showing off their moves! I expected one kid to crack their head open on the ice, but to be honest I don't think I saw a tear all day. I saw many smiles and heard many kids laughing and having fun. The best way to describe the day is by using the cliche of "Good food, Good friends, Great Times."

My workhorse

Rhett would rather shovel all day then play hockey. I was surprised how long he shoveled and stayed out with Bauer and Levin. It was such a perfect night and Rhett had to sit down and admire his work.

Skating buddies

Our friend Levin (and his Dad) came to visit us for a couple of days. Bauer was pretty excited to have a friend over his age!
 We skated.
Watched a movie and ate popcorn.
And of course we had to play hockey with the team.
We were sad to see Levin leave but we look forward to having them over again soon. The boys stood out the door yelling "bye bye" to Levin for about 5 mins.

The boss

Here is the boys with the financial backer of the hockey rink. Currently we are negotiating for a bigger and better rink for next year. Rhett wants a heated indoor rink and Bauer wants a Zamboni. As of now, neither side is budging and a possible lock out may happen if an agreement can't be met.

The perfect day

Yesterday was a perfect day to hit the ice and man was I pumped. No wind and a balmy 25 degrees. The ice was in perfect condition. Just a great day for HOCKEY.

However, my hockey player sons wanted to play with their tractors and trucks on the ice.

Game time

A few days ago a couple of neighborhood kids came over and I didn't have enough sticks for them. A proper rink owner couldn't let that happen again, so I dug up all of my sticks and cut them down at different heights for kids. Jill would always give me guff when I bought a new stick, when I still had sticks from my college days. We now have 15 sticks ready for a game of puck and stick whenever anyone shows up.
