Halloween 2014

Wow……I am a little behind on the blog. Perfect spot to pick up is at halloween, which is like christmas around our house. We had four halloween party's to hit up this year with various costume's.

Rhett's Birthday

Ok, time to play catch up as my boss (aka - my wife) let me know last night that I am way behind on my family blog. 

Rhett wanted a Batman cake…..so I worked all day thinking about how I was going to make this cake for him. Then I just made a phone call to our favorite cake lady. Amazing cake and our kids love seeing  her handy work with their special design.

Rhett is now 3, however when I tell him he is a big boy and now has more responsibility, he doesn't like the extra work he has now and he wants to be 2 again.

Day after

The day after the rink party the sun came out and just melted the rink. I was in shock how it could take me so long to get the ice just perfect and one beautiful day will ruin the whole thing. I have a love/hate relationship with mother nature.

Rink Party

Our second annual rink party finally hit after pushing it backs many weeks due to bad weather, however the day ended up being perfect. To no surprise this is one of my favorite day's of the year and I think fun was had by all. We are already planning for next year's event and hoping to add something new each year. 

Hook

A combo of Hook, iron man, superman and beads from Fat Tuesday. I would have to say Hook is his favorite as it has been for a couple of years now, but its fun to incorporate all costumes into one.

Thespians

To be blunt, this winter has sucked. The forecast goes; Cold with wind, Really cold, Really really cold with wind. That is the way it has been since December. To change some things up around the house we had to work on other skills other then just shooting pucks and stick handling around our sister. Our next great adventure is acting. Here Bauer and Rhett were recreating the famous scene from the "Sword in the stone." We only had one prop but we made it work. Here is Georgi counting her money from  a scene in the movie "Scrooge".

Hockey night in Bemidji

We are a hard charging hockey family, however this is our first game we have been to as a family this year. Which is really terrible because our kids love sports and going to events. It was fun going and if I would have known it was going to be so smooth I would have pushed to see more games this year. 

The couch

When Bauer was one I bought him a kids couch and Jill made fun of me for getting him one. She thought it was a joke, however we still have that couch and the boys love chilling out in it. Now with three kids they actually fight over who gets to sit in it, so Georgi got her own for a birthday present. She sits in it kinda funny and is still figuring out how to get her butt to fit just right.

Georgi's 1st birthday

Georgi turned one on V-day. We kept it pretty low key just some cake and cousins. As you can see Georgi loved the cake. Jill and I always said we are not raising a princess, however our first opportunity we get, we toss a crown on her head. Jill and I need to regroup and get back to raising a tom boy. For all of you that were about to ask if I made the cake…….well I didn't! I can make an amazing rink and smoke a dang good brisket, but cakes are not my forte.

It has been to cold for the kids to be outside, but we do manage to squeeze in a game of boot hockey or two.

Training

We have changed up a few things on our training routine. I think the kids were flat lining on their muscle growth chart so we really had to start to push them to the next level.

NHL combine pics

Yes, we know the NHL season is still going on, however we are getting ready for the draft and I believe these are the pics we are going to submit for the draft. We still have many months to prepare so we may change it up.

First ride.

I'll give it to Georgi, she is pretty outgoing as long as she is with Jill or I. She will go anywhere and do anything as long as she can see us in her sight. However, if a stranger walks in the room….instant tears and screaming bloody murder, along with becoming a class five clinger. I have a feeling though, that she is developing a love for ATV's, snowmobiles and tractors just like her brothers.

UNO

The boys love to play the card game uno, however as you can see we are a bunch of cheaters. Rhett will never win because he always develops an attachment with a color and won't give them up. Rhett doesn't care if he lost as long as he does not have to give up his red cards. In my head I think it is ridiculous, but they are happy playing some sort of game…….so whatever.

11 Months old

Georgi turned 11 months old on January 14 and she celebrated hard with a………

 bottle of whiskey and a fight! That's my girl.

Game time

This past weekend was perfect for a big game of stick and puck! The ice was perfect for the young kids, however the sun was beating on it and the adults really cut up the ice. It doesn't matter as long as we are outside enjoy the nice weather after a long cold spell. 

Focus

As the season is in full swing I expect my kids to focus on the upcoming game. I'm sure he was envisioning skating down the ice with the puck and ready to go top shelf…….or it could have been about candy or the bat cave.

Three amigos plus one

We were late for practice, however I am late for everything with three kids. Before we had kids, jill and I were early for everything, actually 15 mins prior. Now we are either late or right on time. Oh well, something to work on.

First skate

These pics were taken a few weeks ago. This is very early considering our first skate last year was the second week of January. So far we have been working on our boot hockey skills as it has just been a very cold December. The rink could have been complete much earlier however it has been just to cold to make ice. Boys have been working hard and we will be back to midseason form in no time.
